Austin speaking:

This week has been super exciting and absolutely awesome. On Tuesday, I received a text from last year’s web editor Kaitlin Rounds congratulating me on becoming a Pacemaker finalist (of course she would be the one to creep like a nerd on the website’s whereabouts even after she’s gone). Indeed this was true, and I couldn’t be more thrilled for both the yearbook and newspaper staffs on this huge honor. We’re talking about the Pulitzer Prize of scholastic journalism here, people. If this wasn’t enough good news, the results from our regional contest were posted and we basically dominated. On Thursday, not only did we pass out issue six, but we also got to run through the big inflatable jaguar head at the pep assembly. Look, ma, we’re famous.

Kristina speaking:

On the way to lunch on Tuesday, web editor Miranda Snyder ran up to me and asked me if I had heard the news. Evidently I hadn’t, and then she told me our website was a Pacemaker finalist. The day after, we found out our results of the KSPA regional competition; the journalism staffs had 31 entries that placed. The state competition will be Saturday, May 4. Also during the pep assembly Thursday, our state qualifiers were announced which was really exciting and rewarding. We’re so excited to be a part of such a dedicated staff and we hope that we will do well at state

Hanna speaking:

Miranda was also the one to tell me that we were Pacemaker finalists, which is probably one of the most exciting things I have heard. Getting a Pacemaker would be incredible, but I guess we’ll have to wait a little longer to hear about that. Anyway, the regional results were extremely exciting as well. I’m sure everyone else is jealous of Mill Valley, since we placed in every single category. What else is new?
