Students constructed mini classroom projects during FACS teacher Rebecca Caves’ Teaching As a Career class on Monday Dec. 8.

For the project, students first observed an elementary and a middle school classroom in order to generate ideas for their own. Senior Amber Vest observed a seventh grade social studies class at Mill Creek Middle School.

“[Observing the classroom] helped me with the project because it gave me a different look on classrooms, not just the ones at Mill Valley,” Vest said.

The building process began with work on the computer. Doing this before making the project by hand helped junior Rachel Morgan design her mini classroom.

“We did an online classroom floor plan, then we made those classrooms into our dream classroom,” Morgan said.

Morgan enjoyed working on her project and getting to be creative.

“Thinking of everything I want to put in my classroom is my favorite part,” Morgan said.

The project provided a fun way to simulate building classrooms, according to senior Kaitlyn Jackman. She said she appreciated her ability to make her classroom unique.

“My favorite part is the freedom of your project to design your classroom the way you want,” Jackman said.
