Back to School Night is Thursday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and parents should enter through the Activities Entrance. The presentation will begin in the Main gym at 6:00 p.m. Parents, please bring your own class schedules with room numbers.

Student Ambassadors, please check your email. Thursday is Back to School Night and we need your help monitoring halls and giving directions. Please come by the counseling office and sign up.

Attention all  students: the seniors will be hosting a tailgate this Friday at 5:30 p.m. before Mill Valley Night Lights! All students are invited. First students to arrive will receive a hotdog, chips and a drink. Hope to see you all there.

There will be a short Literary Magazine meeting for returning committee members after school on Thursday, Sept. 4 in literary magazine sponsor Anna Nelson’s room.  Please see Nelson if you are unable to attend.

Current quiz bowl members and any interested student is reminded that there is an informational meeting and practice after school today. Meet in quiz bowl sponsor Mary Beth Mattingly’s room, A-212, at 3:00 p.m.

Due to Parent-Open House on Thursday, Robotics will meet tonight from 6-8 p.m. Team please wear your team tee shirts.

There will be a pre-season wrestling meeting Wednesday during seminar in the main gym. This meeting is for any student interested in wrestling for the 2014-2015 season.

 Voyager students please stop by our room or check Blackboard for  mandatory orientation pullouts the week of Monday, Aug. 25.

The counseling office has several job opportunities posted.  Please stop by if you’re interested.

If you are interested in joining jagPRIDE, pick up an application from jagPRIDE sponsor Debbie Gudenkauf in B-118.  These must be completed and returned by 3:00 p.m. on Aug. 27.  This is for new members only, not returning members.

The first meeting of the Gay-Straight Alliance will be in on today at 3:00 p.m. in GSA sponsor Jeff Wieland’s room A-211.

Freshmen if you are interested in running for a freshman StuCo position see StuCo sponsor Erica Crist in room GL-102 to sign up and pick up a petition and speech information. Speeches and petitions are due Tuesday, Sept. 2. Elections are Wednesday, Sept. 3.

ACT Test Prep Class for those registered for the Sept. 13 exam will meet on Thursday, Sept. 4 and Thursday Sept. 11, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. in Room B-223.  The cost is $60. Register and pay in the Counseling Office.

The PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Exam is on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 8:00-11:00 a.m.  The fee is $14 and sophomores and juniors can sign up and pay in the Counseling Office.  The deadline is Friday, Sept. 5.

A PSAT Test Prep Class for students taking the National Merit Exam in October will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 8 and  Wednesday Oct. 15, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. in Room B-223.  The cost is $50. Register and pay for the prep class in the Counseling Office.

Friday is the deadline for ALL students current and new to the College Now dual credit program to apply for JCCC admission. Have your high school authorization form completed, signed by principal Tobie Waldeck, and scanned to JCCC by counseling secretary Leigh Wheeler in the Counseling Office along with a copy of your transcript.

Tuesday, Sept. 9 is the Baker University registration and payment deadline for AP students in Government, American History, Physics, Music Theory, and Studio Art.  Friday, Sept. 12 is the COMPASS test, enrollment, and payment deadline for JCCC College Now students.

K-State’s College of Engineering is hosting a Scholars Day on Monday, Sept. 29 for seniors who have a composite ACT score of 26 or higher and a high school GPA of 3.6 or higher.  Qualified students can pre-register for the event at http://www.scholarsdday.engg.ksu.edu by Monday, Sept. 15.
