Blog: Senioritis now spreading like the plague

Austin speaking:

I’m sure I can speak on all of our behalves when I say Senioritis has hit us full force. For anyone unaware of the term, it’s used when a senior is referring to their laziness and lack of motivation to finish the school year. It’s April now, and we’ve certainly reached that point. The one thing I’m just as persistent about, however, is newspaper. Newspaper is probably the one thing that’s giving me a legitimate purpose to finish off the school year strong. It’s insane to think that our next issue, which we’re working on now, is the last regular one before our special senior issue. It’s cliche, but time has really flown by. But let’s not get too sentimental here – we still have five long and stressful worknights ahead of us before we’re done.

Kristina speaking:

Ladies and gentlemen, senioritis is in the air and it’s spreading fast. It’s not that we don’t want to learn, we just have different priorities at this point (AKA summer and college). We’ve already been accepted into college, what do we have to worry about now, right? (My counselor would freak if she saw this…). However newspaper is at the peak of “judging season” right now, meaning that judges are evaluating our website for quality and quantity of stories. Senioritis really hasn’t hit the journalism room too severely; I guess I shouldn’t hold my breath though, we still have another full issue to go. Not to be mushy-gushy, but I can’t believe how quickly this year has gone by.

Hanna speaking:

It’s crazy to think that this year is almost over. I used to think senioritis was an excuse that seniors use to justify their loss of motivation at the end of the year. I have since realized that it’s a real disease. Honestly, why does my psychology test matter? Oh yeah, it doesn’t. But the one exception to this senioritis is JagWire. If anything, I have extra motivation with the paper because I want the last few issues to be even better than all of the others. After this issue, we’ve only got one left, and I can’t believe it.
