Sophomore Gabby Hopkins is leaving the U.S on July 5, 2015 to travel to Australia this summer for ten days for a throwing competition. Hopkins was invited among 300 other people from all over the world to go for ten days to compete. She is looking forward to traveling and training in order to perform her best.

“I’m excited and it’s pretty cool that I get to travel to Australia and see what competition is like down there,” Hopkins said. “[I train by] doing a lot of workouts and lifting a bunch.”

Hopkins is getting ready for the upcoming track season and is already planning goals. She’s working towards throwing three feet further and possibly going to state again.

Hopkins is also excited to meet her competitors.

‘To anyone else that got invited, congratulations,” Hopkins said. “It will be fun.”
