Physical education teacher Travis Keal shares quotes to inspire students

As his Freshman Physical Education class ran laps on Thursday, March 28, physical education teacher Travis Keal asked, “I’m going from good to great today, you guys in?”

Keal thought of one inspirational quote like this each day, sharing it with students, teachers and administration.

“I just hope to make their day better,” Keal said. “Sometimes people are having a bad day, and a quote can motivate them to do their best.”

Though Keal had his own quotes, he did not start sharing them until a group of students repeatedly asked to hear them last year.

“I’ve always done a daily quote for myself,” Keal said. “But it kind of worked to start sharing them with people.”

Senior Emily Brigham was one student who continued to ask Keal for his daily quote.

“I just think they’re so real and they actually make you think about life,” Brigham said.

More than any other effect, Keal hoped his quotes had a positive impact.

“Nothing is easy in this world,” Keal said. “If you have something you can hang your hat on, it motivates you.”
