MVHS teacher earns prestigious award

 

The Kansas State Department of Education selected Eric Ammerman as a 2011 Kansas Horizon Award winner. He was notified of the honor by Kansas Commissioner of Education Diane DeBacker, and is one of 16 secondary teachers in the state to receive the prestigious award.

The Kansas Horizon Award program, sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education, identifies and recognizes representatives of excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms of the state.

Ammerman, in his second year of teaching, graduated from the University of Kansas receiving a distinction of excellence for a high score on the teacher licensure exam. He also received the Jack and Lavon Brosseau Scholars Fund in Teacher Education. He did his student teaching at Turner Middle School in Kansas City, Kansas, before joining the staff at Mill Valley.
