Math teacher Greg Oder

Math teacher Greg Oder looks forward to learning new things

Is this your first time teaching?

This will be my 31st year teaching. I taught for 30 years in Missouri.

Is this your first time teaching math?

No, I was a football coach and I have also taught P.E.

What is your favorite thing about math?

I just like that it is problem solving and that it is pretty black and white.

What are you looking forward to this school year?

I haven’t been a new teacher for a long time. It’s exciting to learn all of the new policies and procedures. It’s something different.

Are you considering helping with any sports or extracurricular activities?

I was a football coach for 30 years, and head football coach  Joel Applebee and I have talked, so we’ll see.

How would you describe your teaching style?

I’m not wild and crazy, but I’m not a dictator either.

Is there anything that you are nervous about regarding this school year?

Just change. Everyone always gets a little anxious about change.

What brought you to Mill Valley?

I met Joel Applebee last year, that’s who introduced me to Mill Valley. I retired from Missouri, so now I can teach in another state.

What was your favorite class when you were in high school?

Math and P.E.

What three words would you use to describe your class to students?

Laid back, structured and a place where the kids don’t have to go.
