Thanks to JLC’s candy gram fundraiser, Valentine’s season brought hundreds of candy-filled bags to students as people purchased goodie bags for their family and friends Feb. 9 through 11. The fundraiser was organized for the second year in a row as a way to raise money for upcoming events, such as Pops Prom, while also connecting with the student body.

Members such as junior Morgan Hennes promoted the sale through announcements and online forms, allowing students to purchase treats for friends and classmates.
“It’s our second year doing the candy grams fundraiser because we thought it was a good way to get involved with the school while also raising money,” Hennes said. “The fundraiser was a lot of work, but it was very fun and collaborative.”
Behind the scenes, the project required weeks of planning and coordination. Orders were collected via Google Forms and organized into spreadsheets, allowing members to track payments and requests.
Junior Blayne Vincent, who assumed a leadership role for the fundraiser, then divided responsibilities among the committees.
“We used a Google form, and we used that to divide our three committees,” Vincent said. “For example, we had people track who was going to receive the candy, other members to write the cards, and then some to deliver the candy grams during seminar.”
With more than 300 orders placed, assembling the candy grams became one of the biggest tasks. Hennes spent hours working together to fill bags and prepare them for delivery across the school.
“I assembled the bags using the spreadsheet we had, and that was my favorite part,” Hennes said. “There was a lot of teamwork between everyone, and it felt really smooth because of that.”

For Vincent, the highlight wasn’t just the fundraiser’s success, but the time everyone spent together.
“My favorite part was probably having everybody together making them,” Blayne said. “It wasn’t intense–it was just fun being able to hang out with each other.”
Through teamwork, organization and school spirit, JLC turned simple candy bags into a fundraiser that supported future events while strengthening connections.
