On Friday, April 24 during seminar and after school the video productions class held their Spring Film Fest which was full of films ranging from comedy films to nature documentaries and public service announcements (PSAs).
Senior Katie Davis explains how, unlike the fall festival which is a halloween film fest, the spring fest allows for different types of films to be produced.
“You get more creativity, because there isn’t that [halloween] restriction around it” Davis said. “A lot of people go for more dramas or more comedy-leaning films.”

Allowing for students to create more personal films that align with their interests such as the PSAs, that focused on issues such as civic engagement and mental health. Although the themes were serious, the creation of the films was still enjoyable for the filmmakers, like Davis.
“My favorite part was getting to work with friends, ultimately, that’s how those movies end up being produced in the first place,” Davis said,” It is just people in that class kind of coming together to make those movies.”
The current video productions class is mainly made up of seniors, and for them this festival was their last Spring Film Fest ever, so, as Davis explains, the most important part of the film fest was the memories made throughout the process.
“I remember editing my movie towards the end, there’s like a montage of a bunch of old videos with myself and my friends,” Davis said. “Being able to include them in my movie, and like, look back on those videos as well as the ones that I had was very emotional.”
