JAGS quarter drive ends

A coin drive sponsored by JAGS raised over $250 which benefited the Stamp Out Hunger Campaign. It took place from Monday, Oct. 8 to Friday, Oct. 12.

Freshmen raised $32.60, the sophomores raised $31.70, the juniors raised $156.30, and the seniors raised $33.45 for a total of $254.05.

JAGS sponsor Jason Smith said that the quarter drive has marked a positive change in the school’s attitude.

“I thought it went really well,” Jason said. “The participation this year has been a lot better than past years, which I think the class competition has really helped with. I think it’s a great idea.”

Club executive senior Kayla Smith agrees that the Class Cup has had an impact on the amount of contributions.

“The point system helped with encouraging people to donate,” Kayla said. “Without the point system, we would not have gotten nearly as much.”

Club executive senior Lindsey Kimbell considers what could help the Quarter Drive.

“I think we raised a good amount of money, but I think we could have done better,” Kimbell said. “I think we could have gotten the word out better, and make sure people knew about it.”
