First lady Michelle Obama visits Kansas City

First lady Michelle Obama addressed an audience of 300 on Monday, March 5 at the American Jazz Museum and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

During her 30-minute speech for the Kansas City fundraiser, she addressed topics such as health care reform, bailouts for auto companies and equal pay for women, praising the president for his actions.

“Your president has worked very hard to dig us out of this mess,” she said during her speech according to The Kansas City Star.

Ticket costs for the event ranged from $200-$10,000. Those who donated the most received the opportunity to meet the first lady and take a photo with her. The event’s donations went to the Obama Victory Fund, according to The Kansas City Star, which is a combination of the Democratic National Committee and the Obama for America campaign.

The first lady made no mention of the Republican candidates but did ask for the audience’s help in President Obama’s campaign for re-election.
