Daily announcements for Wednesday, Jan. 30

The Winter Dance- will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Boys’ Varsity Basketball Game. Dance will be held in the Sr. Café and Commons and will be free of charge. The dance will end at 11 p.m. Dress is your choice. Outside guest dance forms must be turned in by tomorrow.

Crosbie’s B4: make sure to come by and write down the homework assignment if you didn’t do so before you left class today.

Attention all boys interested in trying out for the golf team: There will be an informational meeting on Monday, February 4th during seminar in Mr. Wessel’s room, A203.

There will be an informational football meeting for anyone interested in playing football next fall during seminar in the theater this Thursday, January 31st. We will cover the summer schedule, camp information, etc. Please see Coach Applebee if you cannot make it.

There will be a mandatory meeting for all freshman trying out for baseball on Monday, February 4th in room A 217. The meeting will begin at 2:25.

Submit your 2-dimensional art work that encompasses the prevention and/or negative effects of drugs and alcohol to Mr. Howard in room C-118 by Friday February 1st ! The work must be by an individual not by a group. Please make sure its school appropriate!!

Sophomore students…The ACT PLAN test will be offered at De Soto High School on Saturday, March 2nd at 8:00 am. The cost is $15. Please sign up in the Counseling Office by February 6th. Make checks payable to MVHS.

The JCCC Spring Enrollment Deadline for upper level Spanish and French classes is February 8th. The Admissions Office will be open this Saturday, February 2nd, from 9:00-1:00 to assist with onsite College NOW Enrollment for MVHS Spanish 4 and French 4 students.

The deadline for enrolling in the trip to Great Britain with Ms. Crosbie is February 8th! Any current or former AP English student interested in the trip can stop by room A201 for more information!

Johnson County Library is sponsoring a Bookmark Design contest from now through Feb. 28. The winning bookmark will be displayed at each Johnson County Library branch. Entry forms and details can be located in the Mill Valley Library.

Do you have a PC, eBook reader, laptop or a tablet??? The Johnson County Library is offering classes to help you learn how to download eBooks from the JCCC library. These classes are free! Please call (913) 826-4600 for more information. Classes are at 4:00 today.

Pay attention to the drug fact posters hanging in the halls! Look for the answer to this question: “What caused more deaths from overdose than heroin and cocaine?” Write your answer and your name on a piece of paper and turn in to the office before 4th block.

Congratulations to the varsity quiz bowl team who took 3rd at the Kaw Valley League Scholars’ Bowl tournament at Tonganoxie yesterday afternoon!

Cross Country is sponsoring a food drive to benefit Harvesters this week. When you wear your Throwback Thursday outfit to school tomorrow, don’t forget to bring some canned food items and put in your class’s drop box. Help your class earn points for “Class Cup”!

Thanks for all of the donations today! Seniors took the lead with over 60 items donated today.

  • 3rd place: 10th grade (26.1%)
