Daily announcements for Wednesday, Feb. 8

Students: help the student council “Kiss Off Leukemia” by purchasing a Valentine’s Candy Gram for $1 at lunch this
week. Candy Grams will be delivered during seminar on Tuesday, Feb. 14, and the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

StuCo members: work your lunches everyday this week to sell candy grams.

The first day of track practice is quickly approaching. All students interested in participating in track need to turn
paperwork in to coach Chris Dunback as soon as possible. If you need a copy of the paperwork packet, he has extras. The first day of practice is on Monday, Feb. 27.

The Stuco meeting for those helping plan the Queen of Winter Sports assembly will be in art teacher Erica Crist’s room during seminar.

Art club will meet this Thursday, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. We will meet our new officers and begin idea development for our Mural Concepts.

Attention all seminars: we are going for the Green with a food drive to help support Harvesters. We will register as a school and the school that collects the most meals will win the traveling trophy and a free entry into the 2013 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Here is how it will work: bring in needed canned food, veggies, fruit, boxed meals, peanut butter, soup to your seminar and Jag members will come and collect it. We will keep track and the seminar that collects the most will receive an ice cream Sundae party. We will begin collecting on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and collect through Saturday, March 17. Please be generous.

Attention students planning on going on the Madrid, Spain and Paris, France trip; there will be a mandatory meeting for parents and students this tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. in the media center. If you have any questions or think you will not be able to attend, you must contact foreign language teachers Kim Service or Edith Paredes before then.

Student Leadership Team will meet today in the band room. Please report directly to the band room at 2:15 p.m. Attendance will be taken at the meeting. If you cannot attend, stop by the counseling office and let counseler Erin Hayes know.

National Honor Society will host the “know ya Boo” dating game show on Monday, Feb. 13 in seminar. Each grade, including the staff, will be represented by one couple in the competition. Come support the couple from your grade and enjoy the entertainment with hosts seniors Devin Rudicel and Robbie Weber. Purchase tickets for $1 this week before school or for $2 at the door.

All Jag and Art Club members interested in helping with the Chili Bowl sale, please come sign up in art teachers Jodi Ellis’ room, Erica Crist’s room or Jerry Howard’s room.

Any student interested in participating in a spring break or summer humanitarian trip to Guatemala please see Ellis to pick up a flyer with pertinent and time sensitive information.

Heart to Heart is still in need of help on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Heart To Heart Warehouse to help organize and assemble care kits and medical supplies. Please sign up on Ellis’ door- more information is posted
there.

This Friday, Feb. 10 is the Johnson County Community College spring enrollment deadline for students wanting the additional five hours of foreign language credit in French IV and Spanish IV classes.

Next Monday is the deadline for seniors to RSVP online at www.jccc.edu/campus-visit for the Monday, Feb. 20 senior day at JCCC.

Ed-tech students are to attend Eudora classes next Thursday, Feb. 16. Bus service will be provided at the usual departure and return times.

The lady basketball team continued its winning way by soundly defeating Tonganoxie 51-28 last night. This improves their winning streak to 12 straight games. This Friday, Feb. 10 they travel to Bonner to take on the undefeated Braves
at 6 p.m.

The boys basketball team improved its record to 9 and 6 with a 71 to 51 victory over Tonganoxie last night. Junior Nathan Stacy scored 22 points to lead the Jaguars; sophomore Drew Boatwright added 16 and sophomore Nick Friesner scored 11 in the win. The Jaguars travel to Bonner Springs on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game against the Braves.
