Daily announcements for Tuesday, May 1

Anyone wanting to purchase a “Midsummer Night’s Dream” T-shirt needs to turn in their order form by tomorow to drama teacher Jon Copeland. If you need an order form see Copeland during seminar or after school in the theatre.

Anyone interested in cross country next year that didn’t come to the meeting yesterday should see coach Mark Chipman this week.

There will be a senior class meeting on Thursday, May 3 during seminar. Seniors will report to seminar. This meeting will take the entire seminar.

A boys basketball meeting will be held on Monday, May 7 during seminar to discuss summer basketball camps and tournaments. All boys interested in playing basketball next year should attend.

Any student who would like to run for a StuCo class position needs to see art teacher Erica Crist in GL102 as soon as possible. Petitions and speeches are due on Thursday, May 10.

Mayhem mud volleyball and dodge ball sign ups are during lunch this entire week. Seniors may sign up during lunch to play in the faculty verses student basketball game.

A “Midsummer Night’s Dream” will be performed next Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m. each night. Mark your calendars to see this awesome production. Tickets are $3 for students with student I.D. They may be purchased from drama teacher Jon Copeland today.

Any student not currently singing in a choir at MVHS may audition for any of the four choirs here. Please see chior director Sheree Stoppel by tomorrow for music and audition information. We will rehearse during seminar Thursday, May 3 in the choir room.

Driver’s education forms for the summer session are now available in the office and online. Class will begin Monday, June 4. Classes meet from 10-11:30 a.m. on Monday through Thursday each week for three weeks. Cost is $200.

Voyager Students: join us for “Passport to Intrigue”– critical & creative writing and more on Thursday, May 3 during silver two. No packet is required.

All books and materials checked out today and for the remainder of the school year will be due back in the media center by Friday, May 10. Please be certain all checked out materials are back by that time.

Seniors: a new list is posted on the media center windows with those names of seniors needing to return books and/or pay fines in the media center. Please take care of these responsibilities. Your checkout form will not be signed by the media center unless these items are completed.

Attention Seniors: please do not forget that Friday, May 4 is the deadline to turn in your scholarship form to the counseling office. This scholarship information will be included in the awards assembly and on the graduation program, so it’s important that we receive your information. Extra copies of the form are available in the counseling office.

Attention current freshmen, sophomores and juniors. The University of Kansas will once again host the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy from Sunday, June 3 to Thursday, June 7. This program is designed to help you develop leadership skills and abilities, promote ethical behavior, and facilitate personal growth and self-awareness. Program cost is $300 and deadline to apply is this Friday, May 4. Stop by the counseling office for more information.

Please congratulate the senior Media Production students, Ceci Fyock and Madeline Webb, for winning the “Best Editing” award for their film “High School” which was entered in the Focus Film Festival.

The film fest took place at Liberty Hall in Lawrence, Kan. on Sunday, April 29 and over 60 films were submitted to this contest from 13 school districts.
