The Winter Dance- will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Boys’ Varsity Basketball Game. Dance will be held in the Sr. Café and Commons and will be free of charge. The dance will end at 11 p.m. Dress is your choice. Outside guest dance forms must be turned in by tomorrow.

Mrs. Haeffner’s Silver 1 and Silver 2 Pre-AP Geography students, please stop by Mrs. Haeffner’s seminar- B244 (Ms. Cox’s room) to pick up your quizzes!

Attention all boys interested in trying out for the golf team: There will be an informational meeting on Monday, February 4th during seminar in Mr. Wessel’s room, A203.

There will be an informational football meeting for anyone interested in playing football next fall during seminar in the theater this Thursday, January 31st. We will cover the summer schedule, camp information, etc. Please see Coach Applebee if you cannot make it.

 

Want to enter in a chance to win a fantastic prize? Submit your 2-dimensional art work that encompasses the prevention and/or negative effects of drugs and alcohol to Mr. Howard in room C-118 by Friday February 1st ! The work must be by an individual not by a group. Please make sure its school appropriate!!

Sophomore students: The ACT PLAN test will be offered at De Soto High School on Saturday, March 2nd at 8:00 am. The cost is $15. Please sign up in the Counseling Office by February 6th. Make checks payable to MVHS.

Voyager Students pullouts for this week are: Wednesday, Jan. 30 – BLUE 2 / Friday, Feb. 1 – BLUE 1. Stop by our room and check out the posters for more information.

The JCCC Spring Enrollment Deadline for upper level Spanish and French classes is February 8th. The Admissions Office will be open this Saturday, February 2nd, from 9:00-1:00 to assist with onsite College NOW Enrollment for MVHS Spanish 4 and French 4 students.

 

The deadline for enrolling in the trip to Great Britain with Ms. Crosbie is February 8th! Any current or former AP English student interested in the trip can stop by room A201 for more information!

 

Johnson County Library is sponsoring a Bookmark Design contest from now through Feb. 28. The winning bookmark will be displayed at each Johnson County Library branch. Entry forms and details can be located in the Mill Valley Library.

 

Do you have a PC, eBook reader, laptop or a tablet??? The Johnson County Library is offering classes to help you learn how to download eBooks from the JCCC library. These classes are free! Please call (913) 826-4600 for more information. Classes are at 4:00 Thursday.

 

Cross Country is sponsoring a food drive to benefit Harvesters this week. When you wear your cowboy hats to school tomorrow, don’t forget to bring some canned food items and put in your class’s drop box. Help your class earn points for “Class Cup”! Juniors took the lead after todays’ results.

Cross Country members going on the Harvesters trip Saturday need to sign up in Mr. Chipmans room by today.

 

Hey Mill Valley, in honor of Drug Fact Awareness Week, jagPRIDE is hosting a stress-relieving, totally pumped Zumba class on Wednesday, January 30 during Seminar in the Auxiliary gym. It’s free to get in, and everyone who comes and dances will be entered in a raffle for an awesome prize; so plan to bring your friend for a Zumba-licious time!

 

Class Cup points for Team Tuesday:

  • 1st place: Seniors (58%)
  • 2nd place: Freshmen (55%)
  • 3rd place: Sophomores (54%)

Tomorrow is Western Wednesday!

 

The Activity of the Week was last night’s bowling meet at Park Lanes. The Freshmen win 3 points and the Sophomores win 2 points.
