Daily announcements for Monday, Jan. 28

There will be a SLT meeting tomorrow in the theater. Please report to the theater for attendance and announcements.

The winter dance will begin thirty minutes after the conclusion of the basketball game. Dance will be held in the senior café and commons and will be free of charge. The dance will end at 11 p.m. Dress is your choice. Outside guest dance forms are available in the office. They must be turned in by Wednesday, Jan. 30.

Attention all boys interested in trying out for the golf team: There will be an informational meeting on Monday, Feb. 4 during seminar in coach Wessel’s room, A203.

Want to enter in a chance to win a fantastic prize? Submit your 2-dimensional art work that encompasses the prevention and/or negative effects of drugs and alcohol to art teacher Jerry Howard in room C-118 by Friday, Feb. first. The work must be by an
individual not by a group. Please make sure its school appropriate.

Auditions for the spring play will be tonight after school. Sign-up sheets are outside of the drama room (C-130). See drama teacher Jon
Copeland for more information.

Sophomore students: the ACT PLAN test will be offered at De Soto High School on Saturday, March 2 at 8 a.m. The cost is $15, and please sign up in the counseling office by Feb. 6. Make checks payable to MVHS.

Our first Prom work night will be next Monday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in GL101.

Information about a summer job opportunity is available in the counseling office.

The deadline for enrolling in the trip to Great Britain with english teacher Kristen Crosbie is Thursday, Feb. 8. You must register online by then. Any current or former AP English student interested in the trip can stop by room A201 for more information. Those of
you who are already going, please stop by A201 to verify some documents even if you attended the meeting last week.

Johnson County Library is sponsoring a Bookmark Design contest from now through Feb. 28. The winning bookmark will be displayed at each Johnson County Library branch. Entry forms and details can be located in the library.

Do you have a PC, eBook reader, laptop or a tablet? The Library is offering classes to help you learn how to download eBooks from the JCCC library. These classes are free. Please call (913) 826-4600 for more information.

Cross Country members going on the Harvesters trip Saturday, Feb. 2  need to sign up in coach Mark Chipmans room by Thursday, Jan. 31. There’s room for about eighteen more to sign up.

Bowling is the activity of the week. The meet is at Park Lanes. Come out and support your bowling team and earn points for your class.
