Daily announcements for Friday, Feb. 24

Our first Prom work night will be Monday, Mar. 5 directly after school. Anyone who wants to get started during seminar is welcome to come then.

English teacher Kristen Crosbie’s AP 11 extra credit opportunity showing will be next Tuesday, Feb. 28, starting at seminar and ending around 4:30 p.m. in A201.

Do you think you have an amazing singing voice? Do you have some weird or awesome talent that you think is worthy of sharing? Or do you have a life interesting enough to share with the rest of us? MVTV will be choosing students to be on a new segment called Jaguar Spotlight. Stop by broadcast journalism teacher Cindy Swartz’s room to nominate yourself or a friend.

Applications are now available for Broadcast or Video Production classes for next year. Pick up an application in room C103B.

Any student interested in taking Pre-AP chemistry needs to complete a spring assignment. They are available in the counseling office.

Voyager students: don’t miss out on “Brain Games – Seeing Is Believing …or is it?” on Tuesday, Feb. 28 during blue three.

The first day of track practice is quickly approaching. All students interested in participating in track need to turn paperwork in to coach Chris Dunback as soon as possible. If you need a copy of the paperwork packet, he has extras. The first day of practice is on Monday, Feb. 27.

Attention all seminars: we are going for the Green with a food drive to help support Harvesters. We will register as a school and the school that collects the most meals will win the traveling trophy and a free entry into the 2013 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Here is how it will work: bring in needed canned food, veggies, fruit, boxed meals, peanut butter and soup to your seminar and Jag members will come and collect it. We will keep track and the seminar that collects the most will receive an ice cream sundae party. We began collecting on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and collect through Thursday, Mar. 8. Please be generous.

Any student interested in participating in a spring break or summer humanitarian trip to Guatemala please see art teacher Jodi Ellis to pick up a flyer with pertinent and time sensitive information.

Prom tickets are on sale. See registrar Deana Thom for tickets.

Juniors: there will be an informational meeting about the NROTC Scholarship process during Seminar on Thursday, Mar. 1. If you are interested in attending, please sign up in the counseling office.

Congratulations to the Jaguar Forensic team who took second place at the annual league speech tournament at Turner High School on Thursday, Feb. 23.
