State Volleyball Information:
If a student desires to attend the state volleyball tournament in Topeka and is not on the Pep Bus, that student must be excused by a parent/guardian via phone call by noon on Thursday, Oct. 31.
If you have already signed up for the spirit bus, but have now decided to provide your own transportation to the tournament, you must notify the office by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
All students are responsible for work they miss in class while they are at the tournament.

The girls open gym scheduled for after school today has been canceled.

Representatives from Jostens will be here on Wednesday, Oct. 30, during the lunch periods to take orders. All seniors need to make arrangements to be here on Wednesday to place their order for graduation.

Please do not forget.  It is mandatory for all NHS students to register with NHS sponsor Kristen Chavez by this Thursday.

All boys who intend to try out for the boys basketball team: there is a meeting on Monday, Nov. 4 during seminar. Location to be announced.

Want to be a boootacular friend? Send them a candy gram for Halloween. JAGS community Service Club is selling Halloween candy grams during lunch this week and next through Wednesday, Oct. 30. Stop by the table and purchase one for $1.  If you buy five they are only $0.75 each. The candy grams, filled with candy and surprises, will be delivered to the person’s seminar on Halloween. If you forget to purchase them at lunch, you can come to JAGS sponsor Jodi Ellis’ room during seminar or after school and purchase them.

Tickets are now on sale for the Halloween Film Fest during Seminar in the theater on Thursday, Oct. 31. Tickets cost $1 in advance and $2 at the door and can be purchased from any Video Productions student or from Video Productions teacher Cindy Swartz in Room C103. A portion of the proceeds go to the ACCESS House in De Soto.

There will be a second boys swim meeting on Friday, Nov. 8 at 2:30 p.m. in the Senior Café.

Voyager students: Pullouts for the week of Tuesday, Oct. 29 are: Wednesday, Oct. 30 during Silver Four, Thursday, Oct. 31 during Blue One and Blue Four and Friday, Nov. 1 during Silver One.

Seniors interested in a shortened day for 2nd semester need to see their counselors as soon as possible. In addition, any current part-time senior who will be participating in spring KSHSAA events will need to complete the shortened day application. The deadline to submit the application to the counseling department is Friday, Nov. 15 at 3:00 pm. We will adhere to this deadline. No late applications will be accepted or reviewed for consideration.

Friday, Nov. 8 is the registration deadline for the Saturday, Dec. 14 ACT exam. Students can register on line at www.actstudent.org/start.

MVHS will offer a two evening December ACT Test Prep class on Thursday, Dec. 5 and Thursday, Dec. 12 from 6:30-9:00 p.m., for a cost of $60. Payments and registration for the Test Prep Class can be made in the Counseling Office.

Last week was the start of 2nd quarter Class Cup points. The cleanliness of each grade’s locker banks and surrounding areas will be scored weekly for up to three points. Last week’s points went to
1st place: Sophomores (three points)
2nd place: Juniors (two points)
3rd place: Freshmen (one point)

A big thank you to those of you came out to the cross country meet and watched as our Jaguars qualified for state.  Points for that event are:
1st place: Sophomores (three points)
2nd place: Juniors (two points)
3rd place: Seniors (one point)

Current standings are:
1st place: Sophomores with six points
2nd place: Juniors with four points
3rd place: Seniors  and Freshmen with one point each

This week’s activity of the week will be the home soccer game this Friday night against Blue Valley Southwest. Come support the team as they work toward a trip to State. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
