Choir puts on contest-themed concert

The choir performed a contest-themed concert on Tuesday, March 5.

Five different choir groups sang songs they plan on singing at contest or songs that will prepare them for future contests. The groups who performed were the Jaguar Singers, Treble Choir, Concert Choir, Mixed Choir and Jag Chorale. This was also the first concert that choir accompanist Kay Spikes performed.

Choir director Sheree Stoppel said that the choir used their time to prepare for the concert well.

“I was pleased with the way the concert went, considering we only had limited rehearsals the past three weeks,” Stoppel said. “[The choir members] worked really hard in January and I think they were ready.”

Jag Chorale member sophomore Caitlin Alley also said that the choir’s rehearsals helped their performance.

“I feel like the concert went really well and each of the choirs have improved since last concert,” Alley said. “We remembered the pointers that Mrs. Stoppel gave us in rehearsals before the concert.”

The choir will host their next concert, entitled “30 Years of Broadway,” on Wednesday, April 24.
