Choir concert donations to benefit Joplin

The school choir is singing for Joplin at their next concert. They are using the opportunity to raise funds for music for Joplin High School’s choir department.

There will be boxes for people to place donations in at the beginning and end of the concert. The concert takes place on Monday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the little theater.

Vocal music teacher Sheree Stoppel believes her choir students should participate in community service.

“I like my choirs to give back in some way,” Stoppel said. “I thought it was a good idea to raise money for another choir.”

Concert attendees are asked to donate as much as possible in order to purchase the music for the school. Senior Amy Shook said the choirs back Stoppel’s idea.

“Ms. Stoppel came up with the idea, but we all support it,” Shook said.

Check back for more next week.
