Cheer team connects sisters

With similar style and a love for cheering, sophomore cheerleader Emily Godwin and senior cheer captain Regan Godwin are the only sisters on the cheer team. Although Regan is captain of the cheer squad Emily likes that her sister doesn’t treat her differently.

“She hasn’t treated me any differently than the other cheerleaders. She has treated me the same as everyone else on the team,” Emily said.

Other advantages for having a sister on the same team is that they don’t have to worry about who would be picking them up after games or practices. Emily and Regan drive one car together, so that no one has to worry about other people picking them up.

In every situation, there is always a downside; Regan and Emily always get their uniforms mixed up, because the uniforms are the same.

“It’s hard to tell our practice uniforms apart from each other and our actual uniforms,” said Regan.

Emily and Regan have fun during cheer practice because they’re with each other.

“We’re both energetic and love having fun during cheer practice and at home,” Emily said.

Emily likes having her sister in the same team as her. It gives them more time to bond with each other since they never have time to hang out during the afternoon.

Whenever they have time to practice for cheer, Regan and Emily correct each other on what they need to improve.

“My sister and I help each other all the time with cheer. Whether it’s going over cheers, routines, or just motions we’re always there to help,” Regan said.

Regan likes having her sister on the varsity team and glad to know that there is someone who can help her.

“”For the most part Emily and I get along all the time. She is my best friend and we’re always there for each other,” Regan said.
