Senior Cassidy Doran is a third-year veteran to the JAG yearbook staff, working as photo editor for a second year. Doran is part of the band, colorguard, NHS and the bowling team.

Tying off the string of her pendulum on Thursday, April 28, junior Sharnelle Bennett finishes the first stage of the pendulum making process before testing her experiment. Students explore scientific waves within the pendulum lab unit. “[My favorite part of the lab was] actually making the pendulum and seeing the different ways the height and weight can affect the swing and the cycle,” Bennett said.

As the pendulum swings toward her face, junior Diana Auckley stands in place to get accurate results of how close the pendulum can get to her face without hitting her for a physics lab on Wednesday, April 27. “It was slightly terrifying,” Auckley said. “I backed away from it a couple times but eventually I was brave enough to stand still.”

Hands covering her mouth in disbelief, junior Hannah Friesen reacts to pouring too much solution into an Erlenmeyer Flask for her titration chemical experiment making it a bright pink color on Thursday, April 21. “I like how we were in control of the experiment and how we got to see the reaction ourselves,” Friesen said. “I was a bit disappointed with the result, but overall I was still excited with the color.”

Looking over the abdomen of a cat, senior Annie Dillon starts the dissection of the upper leg muscles after completing the open heart quiz on Thursday, April 21. “I think it’s really interesting how the body actually looks on the inside,” Dillon said. “My favorite system is the cardiovascular system so I really like getting to hold the heart and look at where all the features are.”

Gathered around a table for a demonstration of a cat dissection on Thursday, April 21 in Anatomy, junior Sam DeWitte watches how science teacher Eric Thomas correctly dissects the upper leg muscles of a cat. “I like anatomy because it’s probably the most interesting class I’ve ever taken,” DeWitte said. “Usually [science teacher Eric Thomas] tells us to do something and I have no idea what he’s talking about until he shows us.”

After the conclusion of the titration lab on Thursday, March 21, science teacher Jessica Haney goes over chemical amounts and equations for sophomore Myles Mustapich’s chemistry class. The lab will kick off the start of the titration unit where students learn about neutralization. “When she teaches she is really fun and it helps me learn a lot,” Mustapich said.
