Carpentry students build shed for class project

The sound of a hammer driving nails into wooden boards sounded outside the doors of the building on Thursday, April 4.  The Residential Carpentry II students playfully argued about whose creation was better than the others while building three wooden sheds. The finished product will be sold to customers for purchase and the profit will be returned to the class.

According to junior Dylan Schoenfeldt, making the sheds is a difficult task.

“There is a lot of math involved in building [a shed] and it’s difficult to measure the angles of the roof,” Schoenfeldt said.

The project will take almost two months to complete. According to Schoenfeldt, the project is a unique experience.

“It is interesting to be able to build something from raw materials for someone else to buy,” Schoenfeldt said. “I really like being able to work with a hands on project for a class.”
