Blog: Jennifer Lawrence shines at Oscars

The newest Hollywood “it” girl is without a doubt actress Jennifer Lawrence, and she made that very clear at this year’s Oscars. After taking home the Oscar for Best Female Actress and stealing the show on Sunday, Feb. 24, Lawrence proved that she’s no longer a rising starlet – she’s a star, and she’s here to stay.

Next to her Oscar-winning role as Tiffany in “Silver Linings Playbook,” Lawrence is also known for her portrayal of Katniss in the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling “The Hunger Games” trilogy. Before landing these dream roles, Lawrence got her start in film doing mostly indies and less well-known movies. More recently, she acted in 2011’s “X-Men: First Class” and 2012’s “House at the End of the Street.” Watch even just one of these films and you’ll get a gist of just how talented she is.

Next to her acting abilities and good looks, this girl has to be one of the funniest, quirkiest, most lovable and most relatable celebrities out there (I could definitely go on). I think the whole world was able to recognize this during Sunday’s ceremony. In honor of this wonderful young lady, I’d like to share some of my favorite Jennifer Lawrence moments from the 2013 Oscars.

Her acceptance speech after falling on the stairs on the way to the stage:

“Thank you,” Lawrence said. “You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell and that’s really embarrassing, but thank you.”

Talking to red carpet interviewer Ryan Seacrest about her hunger:

“Today was stressful and I had no time to eat,” Lawrence said. “I’m starving. Is there food here?”

Seacrest responded by telling her, “There’s 12 plates afterwards; Wolfgang [Puck] was here talking about it earlier.”

“Aww the show is so long,” Lawrence said. “Sorry, I’m so obsessed with food. I can’t even.”

Interrupting a red carpet interview to have a member of her team order her McDonalds (while still on the red carpet, I should add):

“I heard you have McDonalds on the brain right now,” the interviewer said. “What’s going on?”

“How on Earth did you already find out?” Lawrence asked. “Yeah, well I forgot to eat because I was so stressed trying to leave the house and I got in the car and [the car ride is] four hours long.”

After the interviewer went on to ask Lawrence more questions, she interrupted him by turning to one of her team members to ensure she ordered her fries.

“Wait, hang on, I don’t know – I didn’t say fries,” Lawrence said.

After getting back to the interview, Lawrence cut the interviewer off again, this time to make sure she gets her ketchup.

“Oh, and you have to remind them about ketchup, [because] they don’t – they never include ketchup,” Lawrence said. “You have to remind them about it. Cheapskates.”

After being asked on the red carpet to explain the pieces she’s wearing:

“What do you mean? Like … this is the top,” Lawrence said. “And this is the bottom.”

When asked in a hilarious press conference about what went through her head when she fell (which she jokingly said was “absolutely” on purpose):

“A bad word that I can’t say [went through my head],” Lawrence said. “[A word] that starts with an ‘F.'”

In regards to her success at the young age of 22:

“It’s awfully young to have so much success so far,” a member of the press at the press conference said. “Do you feel that this is a good thing it’s coming so early in your career?”

Lawrence then got a little stumped.

“I hope so,” Lawrence said. “Um, yeah. I mean I – who knows? I guess we’ll see.”

The press member then asked if she was worried about peaking too soon, to which Jennifer responded while laughing nervously.

“Well now I am,” Lawrence said. “God.”
