Wrestling team wins meet at Basehor-Linwood

The wrestling team brought home a victory from Basehor-Linwood High School on Thursday, Jan. 31 where they beat Ottawa High School 60-15 and BLHS 35-32.

“Coach wanted us to look at it as practice,” junior Jake Ellis said. “so we worked out all week and told us just to go out and wrestle hard.”

Junior Landon Scott found motivation within the meet.

“All the teams we wrestled this season were pretty tough,” Scott said. “But we were just getting ready for regionals.”

The team put in numerous hours before the meet to get to the outcome they had envisioned.

“I felt like we all wrestled hard,” Scott said. “We can see all the hard work from this season starting to pay off.”

According to Ellis, the victory was close-fought.

“We were very excited,” Ellis said. “But looking back on it, it shouldn’t have been that close.”
