The volleyball team earned a victory in its match against Turner on Tuesday,  Sept. 15, winning all three sets 25-9, 25-10 and 25-12.

Freshman middle hitter Adelle Warford said although playing against Turner was not an extensive challenge, the team still put its best effort into the game.

“I felt like we played really well as a team,” Warford said. “We’re starting to bond a lot more than we were at the beginning of the year.”

According to senior defensive specialist Marisa Macias, the hard work the team has been putting into practices has begun to make an effect in the outcomes of its games.

“I thought that we picked up tips really well, which is good because we’ve been practicing that a lot,” Macias said. “Blocking also went really well tonight.”

Although the team won, its members are continuously striving to better their technique and are dedicating their practices to becoming a better team.

“We can improve on everything, honestly, because there is always room for improvement,” Macias said. “Passing, setting, hitting and blocking should all constantly be improving.”

Similarly, Warford also feels as if the Jaguars could enhance several aspects of their performance on the court, including court communication and coverage.

“[We could improve] our tip coverage and being louder,” Warford said. “Our ball control is a lot better, though, and we’re running more plays.”

Macias feels that the team has strengthened its interactions throughout its first few games, and its members have grown closer to each other both on the court and off.

“We mesh well together and have a lot of chemistry going, which is good for the future,” Macias said.

The volleyball team will play Emporia away on Saturday, Sept. 19.
