The volleyball team defeated Basehor-Linwood during their match on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The team won all three games, with scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-16.

Junior outside hitter Lizzy Eber said the players’ energy throughout the match contributed to their win.

“I think we played really well,” Eber said. “The team was really alive and we hustled a lot.”

According to junior outside hitter Catie Kaifes, the team’s offensive skills played a major role in the victory.

“I thought we did a really good job of attacking,” Kaifes said. “We placed the ball well.”

This is the team’s second win in a row, as they beat Ottawa on Thursday, Sept. 25. Kaifes said this accomplishment is due to the team’s improvement from the beginning of the season.

“The season is going pretty good,” Kaifes said. “We’ve progressed from the start and we’re definitely getting better.”

Despite the win, Eber said there is still work to be done.

“We struggled a lot in our tips and serve receive. It was a little rough,” Eber said. “We’ve got to work on our serving consistency as well.”

As for the rest of the season, the players hope to continue on with their success.

“We just want to win [our next game] and keep the energy up,” Eber said.

The team will play its next game on Monday, Oct. 6 away against Lawrence Free State.
