Volleyball defeats Blue Valley and Lansing in triangular on Thursday, Sept. 12

Intense match against Blue Valley kept players motivated.

The volleyball team defeated the Blue Valley Tigers, the number-one ranked team in class 6A, and the Lansing Lions in its triangular on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Senior outside hitter Molly Oshinski, along with senior middle hitter Taylor Cowan led the team to victories against Blue Valley 25-13, 25-21. Against Lansing, the girls prevailed 25-8, 25-20.

“[The hardest part about] playing a team like Blue Valley is they’re overall a bigger team than the teams we usually play,” Cowan said. “Just getting up and playing defense [was tough].”

The girls showed plenty of enthusiasm after each point they scored by screaming out of excitement.

Oshinksi said this helped keep them motivated while playing Blue Valley.

“Volleyball is a game of momentum,” Oshinski said. “If you’re louder, you’re more into the game.”

Cowan said the intensity of the game exhilarated the team.

“The close score was exciting,” Cowan said. “Blue Valley was good competition.”
