Students filed into the little theatre on Wednesday, April 1 during seminar to attended the annual April Fools’ Film Fest, put on by the Video Productions students.

Being a part of the group whose film was the first to play, junior Brendan Tener enjoyed putting the film together along with sophomore Emily Heinking, junior Brooklyn McCann and junior Merrick Vinke.

“We were pretty content with the final product. Some parts could have been better, but we did what we could,” Tener said. “The audience reacted appropriately in regards to the film [and] laughed throughout it.”

The films were all rated by two judges on a scale of one to ten, and sophomore Kaylie McLaughlin and her group had the highest score of 18 out of 20 possible points.

“I was shocked when ours won,” McLaughlin said. “I honestly had thought that there were other films in the lineup that were funnier and put together better.”

According to McLaughlin, she and her group, which included sophomore Bella Italiano, sophomore Andrea Ayers, junior Jennifer Tharp and junior Emily Mason, always appreciate their final products.

“It’s really cool to see a film that you [have] worked really hard on actually being played on a screen, even if it’s a projector screen in a high school auditorium,” McLaughlin said.  “When they’re being shown, you get to see an actual audience react to them which is an awesome experience.”

Tener agrees that showing the final product to an audience is an enjoyable experience.

“All the memories [we] make when putting [the video] all together, getting to be creative, and having a good time is great,” Tener said. “Then in the end being able to show what we have done to an audience is really cool.”

Junior Sarah Soriano was one of the students who took the opportunity to watch the films, and enjoyed the entertainment.

“I would definitely go to another,” Soriano said. “I’ve gone to a lot of them and it’s always cool to see what new sketches they come up with.”
