For the first time in the season thus far, the Varsity Scholars Bowl team didn’t place at its meet at Maranatha Christian Academy on Thursday, Jan. 23.

The team struggled with answering quickly enough in the timed sections of the meet, according to sophomore Patrick Gambill.

“There were a lot of questions that we knew but didn’t buzz in the answers fast enough which was frustrating,” Gambill said. “We need to practice having quicker responses on timed questions.”

According to team captain junior Jack Earlenbaugh, the team did well despite its loss.

“There was one round where we completely dominated the other team 100-0, so that felt really good,” Earlenbaugh said, “ I felt that we each contributed a lot at the meet.”

The meet was enjoyable to compete in, Gambill said.

“I just really like competing,” Gambill said. “It’s really relaxing unlike most competitive activities and I have lots of friends doing it with me.”
