Varsity girls win El Dorado basketball tournament

After beating Wichita West 60- 32, Witchita East 48-47, and Gardner-Edgerton 48-28 at the EL Dorado tournament, the varsity girls basketball team became champions for the second year in a row.

The girls left for El Dorado on Thursday, Jan. 24 and returned Saturday, Jan. 26. They brought along sophomore Lacie Myers and three other junior varsity girls to the tournament.

“I played once during the first game,” Myers said. “It’s a fun experience to play.”

After winning, the championship game against Gardner-Edgerton, theteam celebrated at Braums.

“My favorite part of the game was probably how excited everyone was getting in the second half [of the Gardner-Edgerton game] and having fun,” senior McKenzie Koch said.

Although the championship game was against Gardner, the closest game was against Wichita East.

“My favorite part was seeing the team win a really close game against Wichita East,” Myers said. “It was a buzzer shot and their ball rolled out.”
