Two new administrators join the Mill Valley staff

With two new additions to the school administration, school resource officer Maurice Loridon and associate principal and building activities coordinator David Ewers replaced former SRO John Midiros and former associate principal Matt Fedde.

Loridon works at the Shawnee Police Department.

“Prior to being the SRO here at Mill Valley I was a patrolman with the Shawnee Police Department where I have been now for 14 and a half years,” Loridon said.

Ewers was previously a teacher and coach at Olathe Northwest High School.

“I was a social studies teacher, assistant football coach and head track coach at Olathe Northwest for nine years prior to being here,” Ewers said.

Loridon came to the school to work with kids again.

“The reason I chose to be a SRO here at MV is because when I was a former D.A.R.E. officer I loved working in the school with kids,” Loridon said. “I enjoyed the relationship between the officer and school teachers. So, when this opportunity came up it was a great opportunity for me to get back in to the schools.”

Ewers is pleased with the welcome he has received.

“The administration staff has been really nice and helpful in making me feel acclimated to the school,” Ewers said. “The teaching staff has been great and most importantly the student body has been great.”

Loridon agrees with Ewers.

“So far I like the people. The staff and the students have been a lot of fun,” Loridon said. “I am having a lot of fun interacting with the people. It’s always scary when you are starting a new job, so it’s really helpful to have nice people around you.”
