Tubular Thrifting: Flashback to the 80s

A throwback to 80s nostalgia and outfit inspiration

Hello and welcome back to Tubular Thrifting, I hope you had a great week off!

If there is one thing I’ve learned from going to a thrift store once a week is that you have days when you find everything you could ever imagine, and you have days when you can barely find a shirt in your size. This is not unusual, but fortunately has not been the case.

I lucked out over the summer with some pretty neat finds, but one specifically that I absolutely adore is my “80s puffy suit.” A large majority of the population would call the puffy suit a track jacket, but obviously I’m not one of those people.

In this month’s video, I show different ways to style this jacket. All of the outfits are fairly casual, geared towards dressing for warmer days in the fall.

The first outfit in the video is a jean skirt paired with a green tank top, with the jacket overtop. This is something that could be worn extremely casually.

The next outfit is a pair of high-waisted, light wash jeans with a casual v-neck top. The jacket can be thrown over the shirt if it’s a little chilly, or it can be tied around the waist to make for a more defined figure.

The final outfit has to be my all-time favorite; it is most certainly is a fashion risk, and that’s why I love it. In the video, you can see that I am wearing a pair of black jeans that are most commonly known as, “mom jeans.” Popularized in the 90s, they are quickly resurfacing. Along with the mom jeans, I chose to wear my dad’s old Fort Hays State basketball shirt.
