It has been an exciting past couple of months for Royals fans all over Kansas. As a fan myself it is amazing to have my home team make it to the finals and play against the San Fransisco Giants after 29 years.

During this season, especially during the past month, I, along with other Royals fans, have been so excited for the Royals team. I’m sure most of us have heard the phrase “Blue October” that has been used. With this phrase and others such as “Party like it’s 1985” my family and I had to go out and buy some new Royals gear to wear while watching the games.

During this season we all saw how the team played together and stood as more of a family, but I have also seen this event bring our community together. In the Mill Valley halls especially it’s been a wonderful feeling to see students and faculty members sporting Royals gear throughout the season. Even if I knew someone didn’t really support the Royals until they made it to the finals, it’s a nice feeling to know that they supported their home team and watched them play. I watched the games from the comfort of my living room, but if I had had the chance to go to a game at the Kauffman Stadium I would have jumped at the opportunity.

Even if you are not a fan of the Royals you still have something to cheer about. With people traveling from San Fransisco and even other states to watch the games that took place in the Kauffman Stadium a lot of money has been brought into the Kansas economy. The extra cash in the area may not be something that we will notice right away but I am excited to see what changes this brings our community in the days and months to come.
