Student tech Manoj Turaga utilizes his family background in technology

Turaga is able to combine his passions of technology and helping people

JAG: Why did you decide to be a student tech?

Manoj Turaga: I thought it would be a great opportunity to help people with my knowledge of technology and helping them with things that they might need help with for their MacBooks.

J: Where did you learn about technology?

MT: I live in a very technology forward environment. My dad is a software engineer and my mom does networking, so my love for technology just grew from there. I started coding when I was very young, and doing that over and over again helped me fall in love with technology. When I go to college, I will probably major in software engineering or computer science and minor in something like cyber security or data.

J: What is your favorite part about being a student tech?

MT: Helping other people because some people just don’t know how to do stuff. Helping them learn things about their Macs lets me get the joy of helping someone.

J: What is the most common problem that you have had?

MT: People can’t log into their Google accounts.

J: What is one thing that you want students, teachers, and/or parents to know about the MacBooks?

MT: It is very frustrating if you have used a [personal computer] for the longest time but as you grow with your MacBooks you will learn how to use them and you will see how good they are.

J: What is one lesson that you have learned from being a student tech?

MT: [I have learned] that I always have to be prepared because I might get a call from a room and I would have to run down there and get the problem fixed as fast as possible. We had a lot of problems during the first week of school because people are getting used to [the technology], but as the year goes on the tickets are going down and there are less problems.
