Seven questions with E.C.O. president Morgan Battes

What are you planning on doing in your future?

When I go to college I want to major in natural resources and environmental economics. I’m not sure exactly what I will do after that. I just want to do something that makes an impact.

Why is environmental protection your passion?

It’s a really relevant topic. If we don’t do something about it, people won’t be able to live the way they’ve been living. You can’t just ignore it.

How do you want to make an impact?

I might go into prelaw. In that you can help change policies and fight for the environment.

How has Environmentally Conscious Organization [E.C.O.] helped you get closer to your goals?

Before I got involved with E.C.O. I didn’t really know about what’s going on with the environment, but after I joined and got a leadership position I found out what was going on and figured out that I wanted to help.

What has E.C.O. done to help protect the environment that you’ve been involved in?

At football games we put out recycle bins so people won’t just throw things away. We take care of the bottle recycling bins, also.

Has being conscious of the environment affected your recycling choices?

It’s sort of a habit, or a subconscious thing. I just always recycle.

What are some things students can do now to help protect the environment?

Recycle instead of throwing things away, don’t be wasteful and carpool. Just be conscious about what you’re doing.
