Seven questions with freshman Maria Nichols

Seven questions with freshman Maria Nichols

How long have you been homeschooled?

My entire school career, since kindergarten.

 Why are you homeschooled?

I don’t exactly know, probably because you learn a little more. It was my parents’ decision.

What does a normal school day look like for you?

I go to MV for class, then I go home and start working on my textbooks, and that takes about three hours.

What are some challenges of being homeschooled?

You don’t really connect with people, but you graduate by eighth grade. I’m two years behind; I started late.

Why do you come to Mill Valley High School?

To learn stuff I can’t learn at home. I take Spanish II and Drama.

How do you feel about learning at Mill Valley vs. learning at home?

One’s completely out of a textbook and the other you have a teacher- there’s advantages to both, sometimes having classmates can be a distraction, but sometimes they help you. I’m not sure which is better.

What else are you involved in at Mill Valley?

I’m involved in the play. I auditioned and I play a wedding dancer.
