Seniors defeat juniors in annual Powder Puff football game

The senior girls Powder Puff football team took on the junior girls’ team at the annual Powder Puff football game on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The senior girls won with a 14-7 victory in triple overtime.

Senior wide receiver McKenzie Schmitt was excited about the win.

“I felt awesome,” Schmitt said. “I’m really proud [of the team] and I feel pretty successful.”

Senior offensive lineman Michaela Jamison shares similar feelings.

“I was pretty excited,” Jamison said. “[Beating the juniors] was harder than I thought; they were tough.”

Both teams coordinated practices beforehand, but junior wide receiver Gabby Fangman felt that the practices were more for fun.

“Honestly, [practices] were kind of a joke,” Fangman said. “We tried to figure out plays and run routes. The practices did prepare us, but I think we should have practiced harder and been more focused.”

Fangman was content with the results of the game, even though the juniors lost.

“It was a good game,” Fangman said. “It was fun to play in. I expected the juniors to lose anyways, but I didn’t expect it to be that close. There was so much pressure and it was really intense.”
