Senior center Knute Holden receives defensive opportunity

After playing 10 years of football, senior center Knute Holden received the opportunity to play defensive end, a position that he always loved growing up.

“Since I was little I played both sides,” Holden said. “It’s just fun going back to something I’ve done my whole life.”

After playing offensive line three years consecutively for the team, the coaching staff decided to move Holden to defense to utilize his strenghts better after a few positions opened on the defensive end due to injury.

Holden said that he enjoys playing defense more because he gets more freedom to move around.

“The first week was hard to get into shape,” Holden said. “But I enjoy it more because I get to tackle people and sack the quarterback.”

Holden said that playing both offense and defense will offer more opportunities for college.

“I definitely want to play in college,” Holden said. “Playing both sides will definitely open up more doors in the future.”
