School reforms art club

Sponsored by art teachers Jerry Howard and Erica Crist, the second art club in school history has formed. The second meeting was held on Thursday, Jan. 26 to discuss the club’s goals.

“I have two goals,” Howard said. “I want to have an opportunity where kids who want to do their own projects can do that. I would like to do something like that for the school, not just for ourselves.”

One of the works Howard would like to do for the school is a mural describing the “theme” of a hallway. For example, he would like a mural showcasing artistic things to be in the lower C-hallway, near the band, choir and drama classrooms.

Sophomore Linzi Murray is excited to be a part of Art Club.

“[I wanted] to be in a club with a bunch of people with the same interests and we can bounce creative ideas off each other,” Murray said. “I’m looking forward to making something with a bunch of people that’s big and that’ll last.”

According to Howard, at least 35 students have joined the club. The next meeting is Thursday, Feb. 9. Anybody who wishes to participate is welcome to attend.
