Following the start of the new school year, NAHS members met on Thursday, Oct. 1, to continue working on their mural on the lower C-wing.

The mural was laid out by club members last year. It will be a midnight blue line with the name of subjects painted outside each classroom.

At the start of the mural, 2015 graduates Dylan Fox and Steven Blaine oversaw the project. This year, senior vice president Morgan Schuler said no particular person is in charge of the mural.

“We make sure everyone in the club is involved and gets to work on it,” Schuler said. “We don’t put any one person in charge of what everyone else is doing with the project.”

The club would like to be finished with the mural by second semester. Teachers with classrooms in the upper C hallway said they would like to have the mural upstairs as well, according to sponsor Jerry Howard. However, the club isn’t allowed to paint over the textured walls, which dominate the upper C hallway.

After completing the mural, junior secretary Jayna Smith said the club has a few plans for the future, but it isn’t sharing anything until project ideas are concrete.

Howard said the club is also working on archiving the other murals around the school in the event that space is needed for the club’s future projects.

“We are just focused on finishing the mural first,” Howard said. “If need be, we will have that option to paint over older murals, which is important.”
