Mixtape Review: A$AP Rocky and Freddie Gibbs

Two mixtape-of-the-year contenders dropped on Monday in the long awaited debut from Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky, LiveLoveA$AP, as well as the equally anticipated Cold Day in Hell mixtape from Freddie Gibbs. Both rappers are noted for synthesizing all of their influences from artists around the country into their own unique style. While Gibbs’ flow takes cues from the Midwest and West Coast to create street-hardened gangsta rap, A$AP looks to Houston for his slowed down production and “swagged out” lyricisms.
