What makes you a super fan?

“I go to events and tweet about them. I haven’t missed a game since 6th grade when I had to go to my own football game.”

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

“I waited for eight hours in 97 degree weather for a fan day. It was one of my best experiences when I met the players and coaches.”

How did you become a super fan?

“I was born in Nebraska and my family pulled me into it. I like to support where I was born.”

Why are you a super fan? 

“I love watching football and they’re the main team for Nebraska. I like the atmosphere and the support.”

What does it mean to be a true super fan?

“It’s someone who takes the time to support them and tries to attend any events possible.”

Sophomore Elaina Bartlow: One Direction

What makes you a super fan?

“I go to concerts and spend time on Twitter and Tumblr… I have liked their music since their first single but I became really dedicated in 8th grade and even more so last year.”

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

“I missed two days of school to go to a concert in Saint Louis. I also ran through school hallways screaming, ‘buy [One Direction’s] new album on iTunes.’”

How did you become a super fan?

“I knew their music but I didn’t know anything about them so I just Googled them one day and I kinda got sucked in from there.”

Why are you a super fan? 

“One Direction’s music is great and I enjoy spending much of my life on them … I can’t tell you why I’m so dedicated, because I’m not sure myself. I just do what makes me happy.”

What does it mean to be a true super fan?

“You truly believe in them and support them no matter what.”

Sophomore Gina Gentry: Japanese Anime and Manga

What makes you a super fan?

“In my free time, I watch the shows and I read the Japanese version of comics, manga. I also like going to conventions because you can meet up.”

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

“I made my own costume for a convention… People got really into character. We also met a lot of the voice actors and got some signed stuff from them.”

How did you become a super fan?

“When I was little, I came across it on TV while flipping through channels at night. My friends who watched it also got me into it.”

Why are you a super fan? 

“There are two [main] types of anime: action and romance. I watch the action ones. I like them because they’re different from [American] comics.”

What does it mean to be a true super fan?

“We like to get into it. We get a bunch of stuff [pertaining to what we’re fans of]. A lot of us who watch anime are also artists, too

Junior Aidan Quinn: Pokemon

What makes you a super fan?

“I have over 100 hours logged on Pokemon Emerald … I also have Japanese Pokemon Yellow, which is the last Pokemon game for Game Boy Color made in America.”

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

“I went to Naka-Kon [Anime Convention] for my birthday with my friend and we had a blast. We didn’t see so much of Pokemon, but we saw just about everything else.”

How did you become a super fan?

“I started watching the show in 2001 … when I got my first Game Boy Advance, I started really getting into the games.”

Why are you a super fan? 

“When I was a little kid, I loved it because it was the best show ever. The thing that really got me into it was the first episode because it mesmerized me.”

What does it mean to be a true super fan?

“A Pokemon superfan is a person who admires the show, and can get lost in conversation about it. They can also most likely name all orginal 151 Pokemon.”

What makes you a super fan?

“In general, I spend a majority of my time watching movies she’s in, reading articles about her. I guess I just like to stay up to date on her.”

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

“For the ‘Mockingjay — Part 1’ premiere, I wore a full-on Katniss costume. I had people coming up and taking pictures with me. It was pretty cool.”

How did you become a super fan?

“I’ve been a fan since 2012 when The Hunger Games movies came out … When she got cast [as Katniss], I did my research and ended up really liking her.”

Why are you a super fan? 

“She’s just so humble and not afraid to be herself. Plus, she’s always hilarious and isn’t scared of acting goofy.”

What does it mean to be a true super fan?

“I think just supporting the person no matter what and always being there for them no matter what [mistakes] they make.”
