After much advertising, the Catty Shack opened on Tuesday, Nov. 4, offering both students and faculty the opportunity to buy items such as spirit wear, snacks and school supplies before school, after school, during lunch, passing period and seminar.

Sophomore Sue Kim goes to the Catty Shack about every other day because she thinks it’s a great fallback plan.

“Whether I skipped breakfast in the morning and I’m hungry or I forgot notecards for a class, I can always run by the Catty Shack,” Kim said.

Freshman Alison Booth is looking forward to seeing what the Catty Shack will offer for her personal needs.

“I’m excited to see what [The Catty Shack] is,” Booth said. “I’ve never had a school store before because I was in middle school so it’s interesting.”

The Catty Shack is helpful to the everyday student, however students in the marketing department who run the store benefit the most from the experience provided.

“The Catty Shack is a great learning opportunity for those students interested in marketing careers,” Kim said. “It is a hands on learning experience where students actually have to deal with real life situations.”

Because of its benefits, junior Roslyn Freeman wishes for the Catty Shack to do well once again this year.

“[I hope the Catty Shack is] successful and maybe next year they’ll open a little bit earlier during the year,” Freeman said.
