Keep your food photos to yourself

Instagram isn’t meant for pictures of your latest meal

A majority of Instagram users have a bad habit of posting daily pictures of their food. This has become a widespread epidemic that needs to be put to rest.

Instagram users have encountered this problem at least once in their lifetime. Every time you log in, you scroll through your news feed only to be met with countless pictures of what your peers, or even total strangers are about to digest.  No one wants to see daily pictures of your peanut butter and jelly sandwich that you are so proud of. Most people probably are not impressed by your trip to Sonic. They can carry on their lives without seeing what you order every time you pay a visit to IHOP.

Yes, I have been guilty of documenting my occasional trip to Panera or Starbucks. Every once in a while I will post a picture of my food. I get it. I try to limit my habit so I won’t annoy my followers to death. The problem is that the other half of the Instagram population still have the urge to let the world see what they ate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This shouldn’t be an everyday occurrence.

This whole thing is really just annoying. Who cares that you went to McDonalds, despite how awesome you think it was? I’m pretty sure the rest of your followers don’t care to see your entire meal either. Everyone eats. It’s just a fact of life. There is really no need to let the whole Instagram population know that you did.

If you are tempted to post pictures of your meals, at least try to limit the food photos to twice a month at the very most. This way you can be certain to steer clear of going into a full-blown food posting frenzy. Once you do it, you won’t be able to stop.  Just think about those strange looks you are probably getting from that guy at the table next to you. In the long run, it not only saves a lot of awkward explanations, but also it can save you from losing all of your followers.
