JV tennis player goes undefeated in singles matches

After going undefeated in singles matches all season, freshman JV tennis player Spencer Adams has realized his “competitive” nature.

“I played in gym,” Adams said. “That’s when I knew I was pretty good…[This season] I liked going undefeated. [When I win a match] I feel relieved because it’s stressful.”

Adams’ dad played racquetball in college, which is a large reason why Adams became interested in tennis.

“I went and played with him a couple of times and I liked it,” Adams said. “[But I also] like playing with friends. I just like being outside and being able to play and exercise.”

As this is his first year on the team, Adams feels that he has improved in certain aspects of his game throughout the year.

“I’ve been practicing and learning different ways to hit the ball,” Adams said. “Serving has been my biggest improvement. [I learned to] throw the ball up in the right spot and angle the racket.”
