Jag Chorale Joins Jazz Band For A Concert Thursday, Dec. 6

The Jag Chorale singers performed a concert with Jazz band members for the first time on Thursday Dec. 6.

Jag Chorale members took the stage and sang each of their songs completely a cappella while the jazz band members waited patiently in the audience. Junior Mastin Tapp performed both in Jag Chorale with a solo and Jazz Band.

“It was really stressful having to switch back and forth. I had to switch between guitar, trumpet and singing.” Tapp said. “It was a lot of fun to be a able to do a little bit of everything.”

Happy to share the floor, Jazz band waited their turn to shine. As Chorale singers finished with “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” the room filled with applause from parents and students who sat in the audience as they anxiously waited to hear the jazz band perform.

“I didn’t really feel like I belonged in either group, it was weird,” Tapp said. “I liked being a part of two different groups that were full of so many amazing people.

While the band warmed up, band director Deb Steiner addressed the audience and said a few words before they performed.

According to junior Emily Klahn the concert was a great success.

“Most of the people played a different part than they played the year before and for some it was their first year joining Jazz band,” Klahn said.
