A popular sport for the students all over the country is football. In “Friday Night Lights,” they show how important high school football is and how it can bring a community together.

“Friday Night Lights” takes place in a small town in Texas. The show revolves around this high school football team and the players that make up the team. On Friday nights, the entire town shuts down so people get to go to the game. Dillon High School gets a new coach and it becomes the only discussion in the town. Previously, the school had an amazing record for football and everyone wants to keep that streak alive. There’s also a huge amount of drama and romance that goes on in the town.

The whole community comes together for Friday nights and I think Western Shawnee is similar to that. Yes, the whole town doesn’t say they’re closed for the game but locals come out and support the Jaguars. At almost every football game, I see people that don’t have students at Mill Valley anymore and that makes me so happy. For one, they’re great people and it also shows that they still cheer on the Jags even when they don’t have a dog in the fight. Honestly, that’s going to be me when I get older and have kids because I have so much love for this school and the football team.

I haven’t gotten too far into the series but what I’ve seen has been good. It highlights what football means to so many people. Also, it shows how something like high school football can bring an entire community together. The show brings to light some situations that most people face in their lives, like sports related injuries and disagreements between frenemies. Overall, “Friday Night Lights” is a great Netflix pick if you’re looking for a sports based show that also involves some drama. I definitely would recommend “Friday Night Lights.”

See you next time!
