How did you get into NAHS?

On freshmen orientation, I went to the booth about NAHS and attended the first meeting.

What things do you do specifically as a freshman?

Freshmen have a smaller role. We’re allowed to vote on president and vice president, and all freshmen get to contribute ideas on the logo, murals, etc.

What have you done in NAHS this year so far?

I contributed to the wall murals in the lower C hallway, fundraisers, and activities to thank teachers. It is a good chance to meet with people, and you feel like you fit in.

Describe a typical NAHS meeting.

NAHS starts around 3:10 when Mr Howard will introduce what we’re doing. It varies between projects to thank teachers, paint murals. It lasts until 4:30 p.m. or 5 p.m.

How much time approximately does NAHS take a week?

Around 1.5 hours.

What fundraisers have you done?

I participated in the chili bowl sale for 4-5 hours. I helped set up the event and the art, and helped to make chili.

Has NAHS helped with any other classes or extracurriculars?

It helped with community service, because of the mural. It also gives me new strategies to use in art class.

Why would you want to participate in NAHS in years to come?

It’s fun, and seniors can run for president. I’m attempting to run in senior year.

What are you planning to gain in NAHS?

I want to further my ability and knowledge of art. I want to learn how to create a piece and contribute to the murals at Mill Valley.

What will be different for you in the club in years to come?

My ideas might be more accepted, and I will help incoming freshman.

What is the most rewarding part of NAHS?

It feels good to help with fundraisers and other events, like painting the the MTMS sets.

What advice would you give to someone joining NAHS next year?

Don’t feel shy to contribute ideas. Even though you’re a freshman, your ideas are still valued. Feel confident in your abilities.
